The Honourable Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande salutes the Nigerian youth for their remarkable achievement at the 2023 Confederation of African Football (CAF) competition, which ended yesterday, Monday, 11th December, 2023.
Olawande, who expressed delight over the feat recorded by three Nigerian youths, 24 year old Victor Osimhen, who earned the 2023 CAF player of the year, Asissat Oshoala, women player of the year, and Chiamaka Nnadozie who won the women goalkeeper of the year award.
Olawande eulogised the football stars for their impressive feat and for making the youths of Nigeria proud.
He said, “These latest accomplishments by the trio bear eloquent testimony to the dedication to their craft, their strength and determination, and the focus and ingenuity that define the life of an average Nigerian youth”
Olawande, who acknowledged that Nigerian youth are industrious, expressed the confidence that when they set their minds to something of worth, they will most certainly achieve it. “The three football stars have just renewed my conviction with their amazing win.Yet, these three are just a fraction of the many great young people that Nigeria is blessed with in almost all sectors, not just in sports”. He said.
The Minister reiterated government’s commitment to providing the enabling environment that will help many young people achieve their own kind of medals in their respective fields of endeavors.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to seek out young talents wherever they are and create the atmosphere necessary to bring forth their greatness.” He further said.
