The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala has left Spanish club FC Barcelona Femini for the US National Women’s League team, Bay FC.

“An agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and Bay FC from the National Women’s Soccer League in the United States of America for the transfer of Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala, whose contract was set to end on 30 June 2024. The Club appreciates Asisat’s commitment and professionalism over the five-year period she wore the Barca jersey.”
“Oshoala’s contribution to Barça Women’s recent successes has been a given. And the fact is that she has scored 117 goals during the six seasons – 4 full seasons and two half seasons -. This number of goals has made Oshoala the fourth player with more goals in the history of the section behind Alexia, Jenni Hermoso and Sonia Bermúdez.”
“She arrived during the January 2019 winter market and in the middle of the season she played a total of 11 games, scoring 8 goals. In his first full season, 2019/20, she scored a total of 30 goals in 32 games. In the 2020/21 season she played 37 games and scored 22 goals, while in the 2021/22 season she played 28 games and also broke the twenty goal barrier with a total of 22.”
“Last season, 2022/23, Oshoala took part in 40 matches and found the back of the net 27 times. In this start of the 2023/24 season, Oshoala has scored 8 goals in the 14 games played.”
“Oshoala’s legacy at Barça is completed with a total of 14 trophies. The African forward has won a total of 2 Champions Leagues, 4 Leagues, 3 Queen’s Cups, 4 Spanish Super Cups and 1 Catalan Cup.”
