The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has partnered with the Market Traders Association of Nigeria (MATAN) to collect and remit Value Added Tax (VAT) to the FIRS from the country’s markets, especially in the informal sector. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared a nationwide strike from next Wednesday over the Federal Government’s plans for the removal of the subsidy on petrol.
