Senator Godswill Akpabio has been elected the President of the 10th Senate. Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State and lawmaker from Akwa Ibom North West emerged winner after polling 63 votes to defeat his opponent, Abdulaziz Yari, former Zamfara State governor, who got 46 votes. The Department of State Services (DSS), has said that the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is not in their custody. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared a nationwide strike from next Wednesday over the Federal Government’s plans for the removal of the subsidy on petrol.
