The former president of US, George W. Bush has mistakenly condemned Vladimir Putin’s invasion of “Iraq”, before correcting himself by saying he was talking about Ukraine.
Bush made the blunder during a speech at an event in Dallas, on Wednesday, where he was talking about the importance of fair elections.
According to him, “the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq… I mean of Ukraine”.
He jokingly blamed the mistake on his age as the audience burst into laughter.
Recall that Bush was the president during the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 over weapons of mass destruction that were never found.
The prolonged conflict killed hundreds of thousands of people and displaced many more.
